Earlier this year, 37 members of Who Cares? Scotland met with Members of the Scottish Parliament who sat on the Parliament’s Education, Children and Young People Committee.

This meeting was set up to provide Care Experienced members with an opportunity to discuss their experiences of The Promise. There were a variety of areas of The Promise that were discussed during the meeting. Some of these topics include:

  • Education
  • Stigma in school
  • Advocacy
  • Support when leaving care
  • Support in Residential, Accommodation and Secure Care
  • Have things changed since The Promise was published in 2020?
  • Support for carers
  • Exclusions
  • Support for Brothers and Sisters.

You can read a full overview of what was said here.

Over the past few months, the MSPs involved in the Committee have used the feedback provided by our members to influence discussions and meet with other organisations to discuss The Promise.
