From Who Cares? Scotland to you, thank you.
Christmas can be an extraordinarily challenging time for Care Experienced people, and due to COVID-19 our annual Christmas Dinner sadly could not be held – potentially leaving our members feeling even more cut off from a traditionally festive and happy period.
However, with the support of our donors, supporters, volunteers and staff, we were able to launch our Care Family Christmas Plan.
We asked our Care Experienced members how we could support them during the festive period and as a result, we crafted a completely unique offer which helped us reach thousands of Care Experienced people.
Our offer included sending Christmas parcels, granting Christmas Wishes, hosting digital activities and keeping our Helpline open over the festive period, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
We could not have achieved this without your support, and so we want to say a proper thank you and to let you know exactly what you helped us do.
We wanted our members to receive a gift at Christmas. You helped us send 2,400 Christmas Parcels to Care Experienced people across Scotland, ensuring they all had a present to open this Christmas. This included a handwritten card, designed by one of our members, along with a small gift and an issue of our Winter SpeakOut magazine!
Christmas Wishes
Because of your support, we were able to make hundreds of wishes come true for Care Experienced people – from stocking fillers; Christmas dinners; new clothes; to even a letter from Steven Gerrard. Whatever the wish, you helped us make it come true.
Here are some quotes from members who made a wish!
“You guys are the best each and everyone of you ❤”
“Thank you, would be lost without Who Cares? Scotland.”
“Thank you for everything you guys do! It truly is amazing work!”
“You’re doing a brilliant job. I can’t stress this enough. You’re all a bunch of heroes. Working hard day and night to reach out to thousands of children and young people to make a wish come true.”
Many Care Experienced people simply wanted a good meal over Christmas! Therefore, our teams travelled across their areas to ensure we safely delivered food to our members.
Digital Activities
We believe connection is essential, especially during COVID-19. With your support, we were able to offer our Calendar of Digital Connection. Composed of six digital events, you helped us ensure the Care Experienced community could come together in a safe environment to connect during the festive period.
From festive quizzes, bake-a-longs, chill-out sessions and more, you made these connections possible. Because of you, we could engage with our members across Scotland to ensure Care Experienced people could continue to be involved in our activities.
Helpline
Throughout 2020 our helpline was a valued source of connection and support for the Care Experienced community. Because of you, we were able to keep it running over the festive period, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This ensured Care Experienced people always had someone to talk to.
We would like to finish by giving a massive thank you to all our donors, volunteers, supporters and staff – who made our 2020 Care Family Christmas Plan possible. We were overwhelmed by your support, enthusiasm and generosity which allowed us to meet the needs of Care Experienced people all over Scotland.
Thank you for your time, effort, donations, and most importantly, your kindness. It means the world to us.
